Rules of Heyball Masters
Break shot
Breaks must be forceful; soft breaks are prohibited. Repeated intentional soft breaks lead to warnings, rack loss, or match loss.
A soft break with fewer than four balls contacting cushions is an intentional foul, resulting in a rack loss.
Intentionally skipping or miscued breaks are fouls, causing rack loss.
Unintentional soft breaks with fewer than four balls contacting cushions allow the opponent to accept the table, re-rack, or break again (no ball in hand behind the head string).
Cue ball must stay behind the head string; crossing more than half results in a warning or foul.
For break shot fouls, the opponent may take ball in hand behind the head string, re-rack and break, or have the opponent re-break (subject to committee rules).
Pocketing the 8-ball on a legal break allows the breaker to reset it or re-break; if a foul occurs, the opponent chooses the option.
If a miscue prevents the cue ball from contacting the rack, the opponent may break or let the breaker re-break, no ball in hand.
